The Social Club [after Richard Broom]

“The Social Club” by Richard Broom Photography

Drinking age was 18 & I drank my fill
fresh out of high school & ready to mingle

Met husband one at “The Scene”
when he asked me to dance
He put my patience to the test
I said give it a rest
he developed bad habits, I chose to let go

I returned to University
& the camaraderie of fellow artists
where I first met dear Robert
gaining the respect of my peers

“Woogie’s Pub” would become my favorite haunt
shooting pool & shootin’ the shit
as the band played familiar tunes of the day
till my barroom days were over
