Two Steps Ahead of Infamy

I abide by the rules as closely as I choose,
a rebel at heart and an upstart,
dancing under the moon to its sorrowful tune
attempting to forget what I cannot digest,
and remembering in name only those I reject
tampering with the last threads of my sanity
leaving me a cold and reckless wretch
at odds with every little thought in my head,
thriving in the chaos of a diabolical mind
